During this past Spring and Summer we dedicated a portion of our marketing outreach activities to educating architects, consulting engineers, retro-commissioning agents, and other trusted advisors to building owners about the value proposition and use cases for our S4 Open Appliances. As always, we listen carefully to, and learn from, the people we are corresponding with. One thing that became very evident is that the Building Information Modeling, or BIM, technology has matured nicely and is extensively used for new construction projects. Having accurate and well maintained BIM models is also becoming more widely adopted for applying analytics to maintaining and monitoring existing buildings and supporting their ongoing maintenance. That is where the lightbulb went off.
We have been promoting the use of our S4 Open: BACnet-N2 Router as an on-site agent for collecting data needed by analytics applications. The missing component was a Revit Family representing the S4 products that could be used in BIM models. Our friends at Sanveo volunteered their services to generate a prototype Revit Family representing the S4 Open Appliances that could be used in BIM projects. This Revit Family represents the hardware platform, an Advantech UNO 2362G, that we are using for our 1.40 release of the S4 Open: BACnet-N2 Router and can be downloaded from The S4 Group web site https://www.thes4group.com/uploads/file_download/file/22/UNO-2362G.rfa. S4 and Sanveo are interested in receiving your feedback on this initial offering. Please try it out and let us know what you think.
