N2 Switch
and OPC-N2 Router Update
Pre-Beta testing continues for both the
software-only and Embedded PC platform versions of the
N2 Switch
and OPC-N2 Router .
Even with the distraction of the relocation we
tested multiple new builds of the software this month. Each one has gotten
solider and taken a step closer to Beta testing. A lot of effort was put into
testing the OPC DA server interfaces this month and they are holding up well.
OPC Clients are able to browse the interface, subscribe to process points,
accurately display their values, and recognize changes in the values.
Autodiscovery is accurately identifying devices
on the Downstream N2 buses. Once a device is located on a Downstream N2 bus we
either use pre-defined N2 Device Profiles to assign its OPC process points or
probe the device automatically and define system generated names to each active
point found. We are at the point where we can start testing non Johnson Controls
N2 devices or Metasys Compatible N2 devices with the N2 Router . If you have a N2
device that you would like to test with the N2 Router please contact us to
coordinate activities.
Our testing focus is currently on validating
concurrent operation of both the Virtual N2 Network and OPC interfaces. It's the
first time some of this code has been extensively stress tested so we are
finding, and quickly resolving, issues in this area.
We have ordered hardware from several suppliers
to test our N2 bus over Ethernet technology. Our approach here is to utilize
completely commercial off the shelf products and provide an open interface to
allow our customers to use almost any Ethernet to RS-485 converter that they
prefer as long as it follows industry standard specifications. If you have a
supplier of choice and would like their hardware tested with the N2 Router
please drop us a line and let us know.
We are close enough to Beta test with both the
N2 Switch and the OPC-N2 Router that we'd like to start interviewing
candidates for additional Beta sites and early adopter customers. If you are
interested in participating, or if you are an integrator and think you may have
a customer who would be a good candidate, please get in contact with us.
